An established, family runconstruction company specialising in groundworks and demolition is seeking an experienced Accounts & Payroll Manager. The successful candidate will oversee the Accounts & Payroll department, ensuring efficient management and supervision,
as well as compliance with regulations. Day to Day of the role:
Manage and supervise the Accounts & Payroll department, providing support, development, and training to team members.Handle data input, resolve queries, and offer direction and advice to the team.Process and reconcile supplier and subcontractor invoices and payments.Collaborate with purchasing and plant departments to manage supplier queries.Work with commercial and construction departments to manage subcontractor payments and accounts.Conduct bank account, cash book, and credit card reconciliations.Prepare and submit VAT returns and maintain detailed records of fixed assets and finance agreements.Oversee the maintenance of accounting software periods.Prepare and process weekly and monthly payroll, including collating timesheets and expenses.Submit RTI/HMRC returns and pension data, and manage DWP deductions.Maintain holiday and absence records, liaise with employees to resolve queries, and maintain personnel records.Reconcile PAYE and costs ledgers and ensure compliance with regulations.Analyse and report on payroll and accounts data, liaising closely with the business accountant and auditors. Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in managing an Accounts & Payroll department.Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll processes.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.Excellent organisational and leadership skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of HMRC regulations and VAT submission processes.Experience with RTI submissions and pension data management.
