Assistant Buyer/Visual Merchandiser

To provide maternity cover, we are currently looking for someone looking to progress their career in Buying and Visual Merchandising. The ideal candidate will have accumulated some previous work experience within both of these functions and be welcome to bring their perspective to the business.

This role gives you a brilliant exposure into an established luxury brand in a family owned 227 year old business with product all made in Scotland.

Working in a friendly open office environment, you will report directly to the Merchandising Manager.

Helping to successfully launch and trade the Johnstons of Elgin branded seasonal ranges by reviewing trends & competitors, analysing reports, range building, coordinating product training packs, contributing at trading meetings and reviewing customer feedback.

This is a temporary position to last approximately 12 months, working 39 hours a week Monday to Friday on site in Elgin. Salary is starting from £26,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

A relocation package may be available for the right candidate.

About the Role

Your main responsibilities will be in -

Buying

Helping to coordinate and successfully launch and trade through the Johnstons of Elgin branded seasonal ranges
Reviewing trends for opportunities/risk & competitor activities
Analysing reports and take action from KPIs
Range build future collections working with Brand Merchandiser and Buying/Merchandising Team
Help compile and coordinate product training packs/training days
Reviewing customer and store feedback
Contributing at weekly Retail Trading Meetings

Visual Merchandising

Work on the InDesign package for VM tasks
Manage samples for photoshoots
Set up product stories from cads on the wall
Create layouts of product stories on sample rails
Undertake store visits to set up new windows
Coordinate POS requests

About You

Experience in a similar role within a fashion environment
Organised and proactive approach to working
Have a creative eye
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel and Outlook
Hold a keen interest in the luxury fashion industry
Experience using In-Design would be desirable but is not essential as training will be provided
