Biomedical Scientist (Biochemistry or Haematology)Please DO NOT apply if you live outside of the UKJob Title: Biomedical Scientist (Biochemistry or Haematology)Location: 25 Harley Street, London, W1G 9QWJob Type: Full-time, PermanentShifts: Monday to Friday (occasional admin work on weekends working from home)Company DescriptionPhoenix Hospital Group is one of the UK’s leading private healthcare providers, with state-of-the-art hospitals, clinics and diagnostics services including imagining and pathology.The Role:This is a full-time on-site role for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Sciences laboratory team at 25 Harley Street, London.The Scientist will assist the Senior BMS and lab manager in the day-to-day running of a small laboratory and ensure that we deliver a safe, efficient and timely service.We are looking for someone with a strong Blood Sciences background (either Biochemistry or Haematology), a fast learner with excellent communication and computer skills and is used to fast-paced environments and multitasking.Candidates with proficiency running Abbott ARCHITECT or able to report blood films independently are strongly recommended to apply.Please DO NOT apply if you live outside of the UK. We DO NOT sponsor work visas therefore only candidates who already have permission to work in the UK can apply.Qualifications and requirementsMandatory HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.At least 3 years’ experience working in Haematology or Biochemistry as BMS band 5 or aboveExcellent computer skills including using LIMS, Microsoft Word and Excel.Strong general laboratory skills including stock control, IQC monitoring and EQA running.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workplace.Experience with Abbott or Sysmex analyser and UKAS inspections are a plusKey responsibilities:Ensuring the laboratory runs safely, efficiently and providing results within turn-around-timeProviding training to junior staff where requiredBook in samples using the LIMSAnalyser operation and troubleshootingRunning and monitoring IQC and EQA samplesReviewingManage stock levelsReplying to service user emailsBe the designated Health and Safety OfficerAnnual leave entitlement of 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing with long serviceCompany pension schemeLife insurancePrivate medical insurance (fees apply)Continuous Professional Development (CPD)Ongoing training and professional development opportunitiesSeason Ticket LoanHelp to buy a bikeIf you think you would be a great fit, apply now.PLEASE NOTE:We expect to receive a lot of applications for this role and it is not possible for us to reply to all candidates with an outcome.
