The right candidate is an accomplished writer who thinks in visuals. This position must collaborate with directors, producers, and others to safeguard the reputation of all written content.DescriptionSuccessful Copy Editor candidates will build and refine compelling English-language content that is suitable for a broadcast TV news environment. Copy Editors assist editorial leaders in maintaining the creative vision and integrity of CGTN and strong inter-personal skills are required to bridge multiple stakeholders and produce excellent content.This role requires a person who can build strong relationships and drive results. You must be able to work independently and meet deadlines. The position demands high quality, creativity, and consistency while working on multiple tasks simultaneously. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional organizational skills.The right candidate has a strong grasp of international affairs and is informed on international news, has deep interest in China and other APAC countries and wants to contribute to the growth and success of CGTN.ResponsibilitiesReview scripts for accuracy, style, balance and conformity. Check source material and ensure scripts are ready for air.Edit copy to ensure scripts are easy to understand, interesting, creative and compelling. Work toward compelling, conversational anchor copy that is accurate and up-to-date.Verify accuracy of all components of programs, including graphics and other on-air editorial elements. Re-work scripts when needed.Correctly format scripts and view video and graphics to ensure scripts and images are in sync.Take a proactive and diplomatic role in many aspects of program preparation.Collaborate with other team members in order to help determine most creative and editorially accurate solutions.Must work well on a team and with a wide range of people – or independently as the situation demands.Qualifications English as a first language speaker with a valid passport.At least 2 years of related experience with strong editing skills which includes accuracy, balance, language and style.Candidates must be able to produce quality work quickly.Flexibility to adapt during breaking news, ability to adapt to program or anchor style and rewrite when necessary.Must be able to work in a fast-paced and demanding live/24-hour news environment.Must be able to work irregular hours and work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require.BA degree or above.To apply, please send a cover letter and resume to ##### with “Copy Editor” in the subject line.
