Blackstone Corporate Affairs seeks a seasoned communications professional with a strong track record of successfully managing media relations and communications. As part of the London team, this person will work with senior stakeholders across all business units of the firm to support Blackstone’s communications strategy across EMEA.Responsibilities for this role include:Handling inbound media enquiries, coordinating timely and robust responses to all stories.Providing advice on media relations and journalist enquiries to the Corporate Affairs team and EMEA executives.Compiling media reports, drafting briefing notes, communications plans, press releases, thought leadership pieces, talking points, Q&As, media pitches and speaking notes for use by senior executives of the firm.Manage internal media training with senior executives.Support the development and implementation of PR strategies across the firm, and for the various EMEA portfolio companies.Supporting proactive and reactive communications efforts.Supporting transactional communications.Contributing to internal communications content.Identifying and supporting event and award opportunities for the firm and its portfolio companies.
Qualifications:
This person should have strong news judgement, storytelling and messaging skills and be confident working autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment: A minimum of five years’ experience in business/financial communications or a related role.A strong existing network of business journalists with direct relevance to Blackstone.Ability to swiftly grasp technical detail and write about it clearly and concisely for the media.Ability to prioritise and multi-task in dynamic and challenging situations.Ability to work with others as part of a team as well as taking individual responsibility.Must possess strong interpersonal skills and can interact effectively with other senior level employees and outside contacts.Experience managing reputational risk and advising on strategy.Strong attention to detail.Relevant experience in investment management or financial services is an advantage, but judgement and understanding the nuances of media messaging and reputation management is more critical. DesirableForeign language skills relevant to EMEA markets.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, national origin or any other category protected by law.The duties and responsibilities described here are not exhaustive and additional assignments, duties, or responsibilities may be required of this position.
