The Distance Learning Technologist (DLT), as part of the centrally based E-Learning team, supports Schools within their division and the wider University in implementing and strategically developing digital technologies to innovate teaching and learning and the development of the curriculum, enhancing the student learning experience in accordance with University and divisional plans. The DLT works directly with academic staff to provide support and advice, including training on the use of our core learning technologies. The DLT also works with academics to explore innovative uses of technology in their teaching and engagement with students, contributing expertise to cross-institutional projects and liaising with central services, such as Information Services and IT Development. As a Distance Learning Technologist, you can expect to:Work to implement and further develop the strategic use of digital and learning technologies in support of the University and Divisional/Directorate plans, as part of the central learning technology team.Support divisions, schools and academic staff in the development of strategic plans for the use of learning technologies in teaching and learning. Provide direct support to teaching and support staff in the use of the core University technology enhanced learning systems and a range of other learning technologies, in accordance with University and Divisional/Directorate plansWhat we are looking for in the right candidate:A first degree or equivalentConsiderable experience supporting the use of learning technologies in higher education and a virtual learning environment in particularExperience of supporting academic and staff users, varying across a wide range of both remits and abilitiesPossess the necessary technical, communication and problem solving skills to effectively assist academic and support staff with learning technology related queriesPlease note that we prioritise applications from current University of Kent redeployees.
