A Brief Job Description:OB SUMMARY:The Teen Health and Success Partnership (THSP) matches local high school students with employment opportunities at the University of Rochester and provides hiring and employment assistance to support students’ long-term career success. THSP aims to provide local students with the vision and job skills for a range of educational and career options after graduation and enables UR departments to employ well-prepared youth from our local community.THSP resides at URMC’s Center for Community Health and Prevention.The THSP Employment Navigator is the lead liaison for employed teens and their University supervisor as it relates to worksite deliverables, academic achievement, and professional development. They will be assigned to manage projects and events depending on organizational need, staff availability, and to maximize the skills and talents of individual team members. They will also develop and format communications materials such as presentations and reports related to assigned programs and projects.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Employment Navigator works independently to provide employment support and career-based mentorship to approximately 50 assigned participants of the THSP program. They utilize best practices from evidence-based youth development models to assist participants in achieving positive education outcomes and employment retention. This includes meeting in-person monthly with THSP high school students, coaching them on workplace expectations and specific job responsibilities.Creating worksite, academic, social, and professional development plans for THSP participants.Maintaining monthly contact with department supervisors who employ THSP students and responding to a broad range of urgent and non-urgent needs of THSP young adult participants and their University supervisors.Interviewing potential THSP participants.Coordinating program compliance for child labor law, OSHA and environmental health and safety guidelines, and UR mandatories.Supervising interns and THSP student employeesDeveloping strong relationships with partner organizationsMaintains and markets partnership opportunities with University departments in order to identify career paths and resources for students and opportunities for new jobs and promotions. They will support THSP program graduates with identifying and applying for promotions within the University that align with their academic and career goals. In addition, they will maintain regular contact with prospective departments and will serve as liaison and collaborator with University programs and community organizations with similar missions.Tracks student progress and program effectiveness by maintaining the program’s spreadsheets and data system and analyzing data.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree required2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
