The successful applicant will play a key role in driving the safety culture of the site, ensuring the safety of all persons onsite through reducing the risks to personnel, property and the environment. The position will be day shift Monday to Friday.Reporting to the General Manager, the EHS Manager will:Provide leadership, mentoring and direction about EHS activities to everyone in SKL.Implement best practice techniques to achieve the aims of the department by delivering against objectives that enable continuous improvement.Take the lead for setting the strategic framework for the management of Health, Safety and Environmental standards.Be a provider of information, giving technical guidance on all Health, Safety and Environmental matters. Identify and advise on current and future requirements ensuring that systems, policies, and processes are in place to support the continuing development of a strong people led EHS culture across the site.The EHS Manager’s key responsibilities are:To ensure compliance to all accredited standards including legislative and regulatory standards.To act as the organisation’s lead competent person for health and safety as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.Maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems.To collaborate with the wider team, setting the strategic framework for the management of Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental standards, engaging stakeholders across the business to ensure these standards are understood and embedded.To proactively identify and deal with issues, ensuring they are resolved at the quickest possible opportunity. Accurate and timely completion of all relevant records and paperwork.Prepare and present monthly Environmental, Health & Safety KPIs to the site team. Monitoring periodic performance reports for trends and conditions.To assist in the identification of health, safety, wellbeing and environmental training needs for all colleagues across the organisation. To develop and deliver training as required.To lead investigations and assist others as required. Ensure the effective management of corrective actions, reporting internally and externally as required. Ensure the effective communication of lessons learned.To provide practical safety and technical support for engineering projects and solutionsTo evaluate risk assessment models and techniques, produce and interpret common risk assessment and management reports.To identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for the site working closely with production driving the site continuous improvement program.Leading change projects with the site team, promoting activities to support change.Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with the organisations Environmental, Health and Safety Policies and ProceduresIdentify, control and regularly audit the efficient use of energy onsite in a proactive manner to ensure all cost-effective available opportunities are taken to controlling and minimising energy usage. Support research and understand the objectives of sustainability, controlling pollution and minimizing waste of materials, water and energy within the organisation.Operate as a strong people Leader with great interpersonal skills, an influencer providing clear leadership and direction that can lead and drive improvements throughout the plant.Travel as the job dictates including reviewing best practices or capital equipment.Accept and support of all new systems, processes and procedures as they are introduced into the Plant.Ensure the integrity of the security of the site outside of office hours.Carry out any other relevant reasonable tasks/duties as required which may be deemed necessary by the General ManagerKey
Competencies/Qualifications/Requirements NEBOSH CertificateMinimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing industryFull UK/EU Driving Licence. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a license.Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately across all levels of the company using written and spoken English.Experience in change management to promote a culture where EHS and continuous improvement is a priority.Strong root cause analysis abilitiesliterate with knowledge of Microsoft Systemscreative and inquisitive instinct to pursue and drive continuous improvements.and time management skillsambitious, motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn and develop.people and interpersonal skills that can communicate effectively and appropriately across all levels and build strong relationships.to Lead with respect.to manage conflicting work demands, multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic and challenging environment whilst maintaining a professional demeanour.NEBOSH Diploma3 years EHS Manager experienceIOSH membershipManagement Qualificationin the Packaging IndustryIf you wish to apply for this position, please send your CV & Cover Letter to Emele Logan (HR Manager)
