02nd May, 2024Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Financial Reporting Accountant to join their team based in the South London area.JOB DETAILSPAY RATE: £500 Per DayWORK TYPE: TemporaryWORK PATTERN: Full TimeLOCATION: West LondonJOB SUMMARYAlong with helping to produce the Council's Statement of Accounts, you will also interpret and oversee the Council's adherence to the most recent guidelines, audit standards, and best practices. Additionally, you will make sure that all applicable accounting rules and statutory reporting obligations are fully met.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe duties and responsibilities of the role will include:As instructed by the Chief Accountant, to assist in the timely production of the Statement of Accounts by accepting accountability for important components of the accountsEnsuring that top-notch working papers are delivered.To plan and oversee the prompt provision of answers to questions from external audits.To proactively identify areas in need of change, assist in putting these into practice, and inform the impacted regions of these.Should take the lead in one or more technical areas when the Chief Accountant directsTHE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATEThe successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:Proficiency in financial accounting for Local Authorities and familiarity with the financial and legal environment, encompassing SeRCOP, IFRS, and the Prudential CodeAwareness of local authorities' financial governance.It would be ideal to understand how local authorities are impacted by VAT and taxes.Proven ability to oversee or handle, at a high level, the main responsibilities associated with this positionExperience gained while serving in a large, intricate public sector company as a senior finance professional.Please be advised that only candidates that have the specific skills and experiences required for this role will be shortlisted and submitted to our client for review.HOW TO APPLYHit the APPLY button or contact Josh Savage at Tempting Recruitment NOW.
