We’re
looking for a Group Risk Manager
who excels in partnering and influencing with business stakeholders, has the
know-how
on project management and is the subject matter expert (SME) in risk and control self assessments
.
You'll monitor and evaluate risk exposure across the First Central Group, providing Boards and Senior leadership with challenge, support and guidance as to the implementation of the Risk Framework.

We’d love to have you on the team if:Influencing and networking with senior people to achieve consensus and collaboration is one of your strengthsYour knowledge of trends in the insurance industry relevant to Risk Management and Corporate Governance are the tools of your tradeJob responsibilities:Act as the Risk Management SME and business partner for the relevant business unit, working with the relevant Executives & Senior Leadership to support and challenge their implementation of the Risk Management FrameworkLead the Risk & Control Self-Assessment process for the relevant business unit, liaising with the relevant Executive & Senior Leadership to challenge their view of risk in their spans of controlProvide specialist Risk Management support and challenge leading to the identification and assessment of new risks and associated controls across the GroupServe as primary point of contact for implementation of the Risk Management Framework within the relevant business unit, liaising with risk owners, executives and senior leadership on the application of this within their areas of controlLead the monthly Pillar Governance meetings held by executives, acting as the Risk Management lead in theseSupport the preparation, review and submission of Risk reporting to Audit CommitteesOwn named aspects of the Risk Management Framework, and lead development of these to best-in-class standard, syndicating these with executive stakeholders across the Group, gaining approval for these and leading implementation of these aspects across the GroupSupport Group companies and relevant operational departments to embed Risk Management within business processes and ensure they are appropriately owned and controlledRaise awareness of the benefits of effective Risk Management throughout Group companiesMonitoring Board approved Risk Appetite and that Tolerances are adhered to by managementRegular review of the Risk Management Programmes to ensure adherence to the Risk FrameworkDeputise for the Head of Risk & Risk & Compliance Director as requiredLiaison with Group companies Compliance Officers, Internal and External Auditors as appropriateAttend Group companies Audit & Risk Committees when requiredJob-specific competenciesExperience & knowledgeExtensive Risk Management and experience at an appropriate level.Experienced in building relationships with senior management.Influencing and networking with senior people to achieve consensus and collaboration.Evidence of proven career track record and consistent record of achievement.Solid understanding of FCA and GFSC rules, regulations, principles and codes of practiceUp-to-date knowledge of trends in the insurance industry relevant to Risk Management and Corporate Governance requirements.Skills & QualificationsSpecialist technical knowledge of risk management techniques.Personal impact in business and technical discussions at all levels.Resilient to challenge from senior levels whilst building and maintaining relationships.Capacity and credibility to assess risk MI and where appropriate recommend/negotiate the continuance/closedown of business decisions.Specialist, current and in depth technical knowledge of at least one specific area relevant to the business.Broad commercial and strategic awareness.Sound, high level planning skills.Knowledge of best practice in risk, business continuity and corporate governance.Self-motivated.Strong intellect.Relationship building skills.Negotiation and conflict management.Appreciates and is sensitive to cultural
