Head of Risk Management, Raw Materials and Trading, hybrid, ideally London based
Salary: up to £130,000 + 30% bonus & car allowance + benefits scheme
Exceptional opportunity for a leader in Risk Management. This is a unique chance to join a leading industrial manufacturing company, with a global footprint, as the Head of Risk Management and make a significant contribution to business strategy. You will lead risk management efforts globally, overseeing risk and exposure of the supply books, especially in relation to raw materials. You’ll manage a team, policies, procedures, systems, and controls. This is in respect to both physical assets and speculative trades. You will ensure clear rationale for held positions and consider wider price risk exposure globally. Engaging across the global business, you will roll out price management globally and lead on market risk initiatives.
Main Responsibilities:
Champion risk management by considering price risk in new trade or supply scenarios, ensuring compliance with designated authority levels.
Manage trade control team and processes to enable effective risk and exposure management for trading and supply.
Monitor procurement team's risk compliance, tracking deals against market references and decision-making frameworks.
Responsible for reporting P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow to business manager, advising on divisional and group controlling.
Analyse daily trading activities, ensuring reasonable valuation of inventory and reporting profits and losses.
Assess inherent risks in supply positions and identify incorrectly booked trades.
Interface with divisional FDs and Business Leads on price risk management.
Review trading activity for anomalies and report to management.
Support Group FD and Business Manager in financial reporting, business performance analysis, and improvement projects.
Lead Group Procurement team to improve working capital as per company targets.
Custodian of Procurement Spend Map for insights on value delivery.
Manage Procurement Function Risk register, coordinating annual reviews with Group Internal Audit and Risk team.
Key Requirements:
Significant experience in controlling and managing risk, especially positional price risk exposure
Ability to manage complex data and convey key messages
Strong interpersonal skills for working across functions and influencing peers and senior leadership
Cultural awareness and adaptability for operating across geographic regions
Strategic thinker with the ability to manage short, medium, and long-term risks with practical mitigations
