We have an exciting opportunity in the shape of a less than full-time (18.75hrs / 0.5wte) Band 7 role that will form a job-share with our current band 7 to help lead our Critical Care Dietetic team. The critical care dietetic team at Royal Cornwall Hospital is a friendly, pro-active and innovative team that supports the development of extended skills such as tube placements and non-medical prescribing. The wider team included 2.0wte Band 6s and 0.4wte dietetic apprentice.Main duties of the jobJob Overview To provide a high standard of Nutrition & Dietetic service. To maintain an agreed case load within the clinical specialism, performing advanced assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations. To formulate diagnoses and treatment plans, as an autonomous practitioner. To undertake line manager duties for the team. To work alongside the Therapy Lead, the Clinical Matron for Critical Care and the Professional lead for Dietetics in planning, co-coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the service. To be instrumental in the on-going development of services and practices that provide high quality care and interventions. To carry out any special duties associated with the post (eg overseeing recruitment to Band 5/6 rotation, representing the therapy service at various forums).About usSustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. Degree in Dietetics or equivalent. Evidence of further formal study e.g. postgraduate qualifications, (Post grad Certificate / Diploma, Masters modules, or equivalent). HCPC registered.
Desirable
Membership of the British Dietetic Association (BDA), BDA specialist group e.g. Critical Care Group, PENG/ BAPEN
ExperienceEssential
Significant relevant post qualification experience. Comprehensive experience of enteral and parenteral feeding in a range of settings including critical care. Range of experience of other conditions including stroke, neurological diseases and post-surgical complications that impact on the nutritional needs of a patient Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, an in-depth understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team. Experience of leading /supervising a team of people including qualified and unqualified. Comprehensive experience as a clinical educator of Dietetic students.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to work in highly stressful situations including the ability to manage distressing and highly emotive situations successfully Able to concentrate for long periods, including during patient treatments (for 20+ minutes). Able to work with frequent interruptions. Actively participate in, and record, CPD activities and in-service training. Able to work flexibly across a team, and provide cross cover outside your area of speciality. Keen to share knowledge and training across all health and social care professionals.
