A new Managing Quantity Surveyor vacancy with a leading UK based civil engineering and rail main contractor to work on JV High Speed 2 HS2 project in London. Managing Quantity Surveyor will be providing commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
Project DetailsThe main responsibility of a Managing Quantity Surveyor will be to maximize and protect the company’s commercial position by management of the commercial and administrative functions in respect of a project and provision of commercial support and guidance at various phases of a project as required.Managing Quantity Surveyor will be reporting to the Commercial Manager.This QS employer is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts for Tunnels & Approaches in the London area. The scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), sprayed concrete lining (SCL) tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
Responsibilities and DutiesThe Managing Quantity Surveyor duties and responsibilities will involve:Support in developing the Target PriceMaintenance of Register of Contractor’s people, grades, timesheetsMonthly Payment applicationsPreparation of Commercial documentation and agreementsCost and Value managementPreparation, maintenance and agreement of Project accountsProvision of commercial and financial reporting informationEnsure compliance with Project standards and procedures in respect of Commercial activitiesSubcontract procurement and managementEnsure compliance to Fair Payment Charter, reporting and performanceClaims management including formal preparation and negotiationControl of project documentation and recordsManagement and recording of changesManagement of commercial staffEnsure compliance with insurance claim procedure and handle insurance claimsLiaison with Commercial and Technical Staff
Desired Skills and ExperienceRelevant commercial experience preferably with a contracting organisationDemonstrable subcontract management of NEC 3 Contracts in excess of £10mPractical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of workingA creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem-solvingExtensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and the facilitation of collaborative solutionsDemonstrable financial and commercial acumenStrong analytical skillsDemonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experienceConfidence and ability to assert influence
Qualifications/Educational RequirementsDegree or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subjectChartered status with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) is desirable or working towards approved training scheme for membership / full Chartered statusRelevant CSCS Card
