The role
To lead on all content/editorial elements in the field of pharmaceuticals and applied sciences, helping to manage task allocation, content ideation and delivery for the field including audience development, social media, events, media partnerships and sales support. The Pharma and Applied Sciences Associate Editor will work closely with the editorial team to ensure content creation is timely and achieves best practice quality and standards. They will be responsible for the pharma and applied science strategy, support sales and work with client services and production in this field. The Associate Editor will research and keep up to date on all pharmaceutical and applied sciences advances and developments, particularly from the techniques perspective and continuously build out a contact network of scientists and manufacturers. The Associate Editor will help set KPIs, and work to achieve them for pharma and applied sciences content output and engagement, reporting to the Senior Associate Editor and supporting on all products and techniques relating to pharma and applied sciences matters.
Snapshot of the role:
Develops pharma/applied sciences content strategy and drives ideation and content creation and delivery. This will include for the Scientists Channel and Scientists Choice Award, where relevant
Creates a range of multimedia content in line with agreed KPIs
Helps establish a social media program for the field and manages engagement, content output and performance in line with agreed KPIs
Helps manage pharma and applied sciences events calendar and event attendance, plus relevant media partnerships. Also holds responsibility for relevant summits
Continually builds new contacts in the field
Continually builds out the audience and membership
Supports sales by taking part in sales calls and attending meetings with sponsors relating to pharma and applied sciences
Travels to industry events and produces targeted content and event coverage
Proofs and edits pharma and applied sciences copy
Skills and Experience:
A minimum of three years’ experience creating digital content as part of an editorial team
Evidence of commercial acumen
Experience of working as part of an editorial team and publishing through CMS
Accuracy and an eye for detail
Desirable:
Previous experience working for a scientific publisher
Experience of marketing platforms/tools such as Vimeo, Hubspot, Zephyr, Echobox, GA4 or PowerBI
B2B experience
Journalist training / experience
Line management experience
Qualifications:
Scientific degree – pharmaceutical and applied sciences related
