Job Description:
International Logistics Centre, Unit 4 Axis Park, Hurricane Way, Langley, SLOUGH, SL3 8AQ.A great opportunity has arisen within the Royal Mail International Logistics Centre. We are looking to recruit four new Work Area Operations Managers (Weekend Shift). You will report directly to the Shift Manager.The role is responsible for managing a team of operators, in a defined work area of the Logistics Centre, and for leading the team in a way which motivates, creates high performance and commitment.You will be responsible for Health & Safety compliance within the work area and for creating a working environment where all employees take responsibility for safety and wellbeing in accordance with Continuous Improvement Activities.As a Work Area Operations Manager, you will be responsible for first line HR processes e.g. Conduct and Attendance, Engagement, Performance etc., alongside measurement and display of key metrics for the work area, and the analysis and continuous improvement of them. You’ll be accountable for the day to day management of up to 20 front line staff.

Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for the achievement of KPI – shareholders, customers, efficiency, quality, budget & employees – identify trends in performance and create and implement Improvement Action Plans
Safety – knowledge of safe systems of work, safety tools and techniques and the accident investigation process
Strong drive, enthusiasm and resilience – constantly strives to improve performance, ability to motivate colleagues
Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced working environment
IT literacy to use internal systems e.g. PSP, TRMS and Microsoft office programmes
Automation knowledge – knowledge of automation, mech performance metrics and the role of engineering in effective automation performance (or prepared to learn this)
Responsible for maintenance and analysis of all Work Area control systems
Ensure work area compliance to the health and safety policy (including risk assessment), addressing day-to-day issues, and liaison with union H&S representatives
People skills – good communication skills, able to engage and motivate team members to work to high standards
Data analysis and problem solving – ability to use data to identify trends in performance and then develop solutions/make improvements
Relationships – able to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders to achieve business benefit
Operational knowledge – operational knowledge of the letters operation and the overall plant operation
Experience of team working to achieve results
Maintain consistent application of IR framework, policies & strategies through the involvement of union representatives & employees
Liaise with other Work Operations Managers to ensure smooth flows of work across the International Logistics Centre and our Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre.
Job Requirements:
Ensure that all team members are trained to operate new technology, support work area team members through mentoring and one-to-one coaching activity, carry out the delivery of weekly Work Time Learning sessions to own work area team in line with the work and actively engage with staff preparing and delivering Team Meetings to promote front line participation and involvement
Manage HR policies and procedures in respect of Front Line employees and ensure consistent application of business standards, i.e. individual performance, behaviour, uniforms etc. through direction and guidance of management team and individual
