Job Description
Parry Murray is a luxury home textile manufacturer offering an extensive range of bespoke hand crafted fabrics to brands all over the world. From drapery to upholstery we produce woven stripes, embroidery, prints, jacquards and much more!
We are looking for a versatile textile designer to join our fast paced design studio in Croydon, South London.
Role Description
The candidate will be responsible for creating original artwork and designs for our in house collections and client briefs. They will also work closely with our factories from sampling stages to final production. Although this is a design role there will also be a lot of design admin alongside such as completing fabric spec sheets, liaising with suppliers over zoom/email and following up on projects. The ideal candidate will be super organised and proficient on Microsoft Office, especially Excel. The role is largely office based although there will be some opportunity at manager's discretion to work remotely when designing.
The Candidate

A passionate textile designer with an entrepreneurial approach, who thrives in a fast-paced design studio

Must have knowledge of the luxury home textiles interior market and at least 5 years experience in a similar role

Must have a technical understanding of weave, print and embroidery, wallpaper experience would be beneficial

Must have a degree in Textile Design or similar

Expert knowledge of photoshop, AVA experience would be beneficial

Previous experience working closely with factories desirable
Design development
-
Create original artwork and designs for in-house collections

Works on trend and colour boards to present to the design team and marketing team

Presents designs and concepts at regular design meetings

Create innovative designs and qualities with suppliers

Make changes to colour, scale or quality in existing designs from the Parry Murray collection to suit the requirements of the customer

Works with documents and artworks to send to India

Visits museums, galleries, trade shows and makes presentations to the rest of the team
Customer projects
-
Visits customers when required to discuss new projects, and works on specs to brief our factories in India and China.

Visits customers when required along with the marketing team and displays new and existing designs and products

Understands the customer requirements regarding quality, design and schedules

Makes changes in colour, scale or quality in existing designs from the Parry Murray collection to suit the requirements of the customer
Travel
-
Travel to India to work with mills
-
Travel to trade shows to present the Parry Murray collections

Meeting Customers (mainly in and around London) to discuss projects
