Position Title: Assistant Credit Manager

Location: Middlesbrough

Salary: ££37,000 - £41,000

Hours: 8.30am - 5pm (Mon-Fri)

Type: Full-time, Permanent, Office based.

 

We are looking for an Assistant Credit Manager for a world leading supplier based in Middlesbrough. In this role you will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the credit control team, recommending and implementing strategies to maximise sales ledger recoveries, minimising bad debt exposure and improving levels of customer service. This is a fantastic position for a Senior/ Heavily Credit Controller looking to step into a Managerial role.

Key Responsibilities of an Assistant Credit Manager:


  • Manage day-to-day frequency and quality of client contact and control recording of these activities
  • Validate new applications, contacting prospective customers and identifying correct contact information along with any billing requirements for new account set up. Escalate any issues/risks or concerns identified
  • Summarise findings on the appropriate credit review form and make recommendations as appropriate and escalate for sign-off
  • Identify instances where the underlying trading entity is to change or there is a change in address or company structure and escalate for further review
  • Ensure that 7-Day letters are produced and issued within appropriate timescales and that controls are undertaken to review accuracy and approve exclusions.
  • Undertake regular ledger reviews with credit controllers to prioritise workloads and highlight issues requiring escalation
  • Liaise with appropriate parties to ensure any customer complex billing requirements are understood and correctly acted upon
  • In conjunction with the Credit Manager, communicate team performance targets and review/report regularly on achievements and variances
  • Assist with the Day to day supervision and performance management of a team of credit controllers
  • Any ad-hoc reporting and/or tasks as required by management

Key Accountabilties of an Assistant Credit Manager:


  • Performance against individual, team and departmental KPI and other targets
  • Prompt and accurate record keeping
  • Transactional integrity of sales ledger accounts, including the timely and accurate resolution of unallocated cash
  • Prompt identification and referral of credit risk issues and unresolved queries that are delaying payments

Key Skills of an Assistant Credit Manager:


  • Highly organised and able to prioritise workloads within a very busy and fast-moving environment
  • CICM qualified or wishing to undertake study
  • Strong negotiating skills; able to speak confidently to people at all levels
  • Persuasive; able to achieve results by influencing the actions of others
  • Ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy
  • Computer literate - good working knowledge of a variety of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Dynamics etc)
  • Previous Credit Control Experience - REQUIRED
  • Previous Team Leader/supervisory experience - Preferred
