EHS Technician (6 months contract)



Location: Towcester



Hours: 9.00am -5.00pm/8.00am-4.00pm



Salary: 35k-45k (Pro rota)



This is a 6-month contract supporting the Environmental, Health & Safety programme for high tech manufacturing company. Ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations.





Key Responsibilities:




  1. Environmental Monitoring and Sampling:


    • Conduct velocity testing to assess air movement in controlled environments.

    • Perform swab sampling and stack VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) monitoring for compliance and environmental health.

    • Maintain and monitor fume cabinets to ensure safe containment and operation.






  1. Waste Management:


    • Oversee the bulking of hazardous waste (excluding collection preparation/coordination).

    • Analyse and characterise waste, liaising with waste vendors to ensure proper disposal.

    • Prepare hazardous waste for collection and maintain accurate logs and invoices for all site waste.






  1. Compliance and Documentation:


    • Maintain COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and risk assessments.

    • Update and manage procedure documents to align with regulatory standards and site requirements.






  1. Incident Response and Analysis:


    • Respond to calls for investigating spills, performing pH testing, and emergency phosphorus checks.

    • Conduct weekend analyses and provide rapid response to unplanned events to minimize risks.






  1. Continuous Improvement:


    • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for EHS program enhancement.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive safety and sustainability initiatives.







Qualifications and Skills:




  • Experience in EHS operations with knowledge of the management chemical and hazardous materials

  • Expertise in hazardous waste management and environmental monitoring techniques.

  • Knowledge of COSHH, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to emergencies.




  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organisational abilities.
