Job Title: HVAC Design Engineer

Salary: �50,000 per annum
Job Summary: Heels & Brogues Recruitment are working with a well-known client who are looking for an experienced HVAC Design Engineer. The HVAC Design Engineer will focus on the design and engineering of HVAC systems, managing projects from the conceptual stage through to completion. This role involves a blend of office and home working.
Key Responsibilities for HVAC Design Engineer:
- Perform detailed HVAC calculations, including heating and cooling loads, psychometrics, and humidification requirements. Develop design solutions for airflow rates, ductwork pressure drops, and plant and equipment sizing.
- Conduct offshore surveys to assess the condition and operational status of HVAC systems. Use survey data to generate detailed reports, findings, and recommendations, and create associated design and cost proposals.
- Produce and review design documentation including general arrangements, fabrication drawings, flow, pressure, and instrumentation diagrams. Develop technical documents such as desktop studies, survey reports, basis of design, system operating philosophies, equipment specifications, and construction work packs.
- Select suitable material suppliers, manage purchase orders, and expedite the manufacturing process to meet project needs.
- Oversee projects during installation and commissioning phases, ensuring smooth handover to clients.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- BEng or BSc in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with substantial relevant experience.
- Strong background in designing HVAC systems and performing detailed design calculations. Proven understanding of heating and cooling loads and humidification requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD; experience with MEP packages is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in HVAC design, rather than hands-on or installation roles. Ability to work independently and solve design problems proactively.
- Self-motivated, client-focused, with excellent communication skills. Capable of managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to travel offshore and overseas. Holding a valid offshore BOSIET/FOET and OGUK medical is advantageous.
Schedule for HVAC Design Engineer:
- Two days (Monday/Tuesday) in the office. Full-time office presence may be required initially for the first few weeks until acclimated.
- Three days working from home.
- Travel allowances provided for offshore trips.
