Primary School Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Blaenau Gwent
Location: Blaenau Gwent
Salary: Starting from £100 per day
Working Hours: Part-time, full-time, and ad-hoc roles available (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm)
We are seeking an experienced Primary School Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a school in Blaenau Gwent. In this role, you will be providing vital support to the class teacher, working with students across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2, ensuring all pupils, including those with additional learning needs, receive the best possible education.
About the Role:
As a Primary School HLTA, your main responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
- Assisting the class teacher in planning and preparing learning activities and resources.
- Supporting students in small groups or on a 1-to-1 basis, ensuring they engage with the learning material and make progress.
- Promoting positive behaviour and fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Providing additional support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN), where appropriate.
- Helping to monitor student progress and providing feedback to the teacher regarding students' development.
- Supporting students in their social and emotional development, promoting good behaviour and effective communication.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience as an HLTA in a primary school setting, with a clear understanding of classroom management and child development.
- Holds a Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, or has significant experience in an HLTA role.
- Demonstrates a patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to working with children of varying abilities and needs.
- Is skilled at supporting children with SEN/ALN and has experience using strategies to promote inclusion and engage children in learning.
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents.
- Has a commitment to ongoing professional development and enhancing teaching and learning practices.

Essential Requirements:
To apply, you must have:
- At least 3 months' experience as an HLTA in a primary school setting.
- A Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (or relevant experience).
- A fully enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- EWC registration (Education Workforce Council) as a school learning support worker.
- A solid understanding of classroom management and differentiation to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- The right to work in the UK.
