Primary School Teaching Assistant (SEN/ALN Focus)
Location: Blaenau Gwent
Salary: Starting from £83.50 per day
Working Hours: Part-time, full-time, and ad-hoc roles available (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm)
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Primary School Teaching Assistant to join a school in Blaenau Gwent. In this role, you will be supporting students across both the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2, with a focus on learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN). Your responsibilities will include providing both 1-to-1 support and working with small groups to help meet the individual learning needs of students.

As a Teaching Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Supporting students with SEN and ALN on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • \n
  • Collaborating with teachers to implement tailored learning strategies.
  • \n
  • Creating an inclusive learning environment for students with emotional, social, and learning challenges.
  • \n
  • Assisting students with behavioural, sensory, and other ALN-related needs.
  • \n
  • Monitoring and recording student progress in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • \n
  • Adapting classroom resources and activities to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • \n
\nThe Ideal Candidate:\n


We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong understanding of SEN/ALN and the needs of students requiring additional support.
  • \n
  • Has experience supporting children with a range of additional learning needs, including dyslexia, autism, ADHD, and sensory processing issues.
  • \n
  • Demonstrates a patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
  • \n
  • Has the ability to implement individualized learning plans and manage behavioural or emotional challenges.
  • \n
  • Is committed to continuous training and development in SEN/ALN support.
  • \n
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with staff, parents, and other support professionals.

\nEssential Requirements:\n


To apply, you must have:

  • \nAt least 3 months' experience working with children with SEN/ALN (in a school or similar setting).
  • \n
  • A fully enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • \n
  • \nEWC registration as a school learning support worker.
  • \n
  • A solid understanding of additional learning needs and the ability to implement support strategies.
  • \n
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • \n
