Our client a well-known manufacturer of lighters based in Basildon are recruiting an Account Manager to join their team.
This role involves overseeing the strategic development, implementation and execution of initiatives aimed at maximising sales, profitability and market share within these retail formats.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Formulate comprehensive retail strategies tailored to meet the unique needs and dynamics of organized retail chains and discounters, in alignment with company objectives and targets.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners, serving as the primary point of contact and fostering collaboration to achieve mutual goals.
- Negotiate favourable terms, pricing agreements, and promotional activities with retail partners to optimize profitability while maintaining strong partnerships and brand integrity.
- Develop and execute sales plans and initiatives to drive incremental sales volume, increase market penetration, and expand distribution within organized retail and discount channels.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to identify opportunities and threats, providing strategic insights to guide decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance, to align retail strategies and execute initiatives effectively.
- Analyse sales data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of retail initiatives, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to drive sales growth.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company standards and policies, in all aspects of retail operations, including pricing, product placement, and promotional activities.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the retail sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Stay updated on industry developments, retail trends, and best practices in organized retail and discount channels to enhance professional knowledge and expertise.
Skills, Experience and Competencies:
- Minimum experience of 5 years in a similar role, at least 2 years in a position with similar characteristics.
- Experience in negotiation & contracts
- Advance knowledge of Excel
- Availability to travel
- Good communication skills
- Analytical skills
- Knowledge of the smoker sector (desirable)
The salary for this position is between £45,000 - £51,000 per annum depending on experience. There is also a 15% bonus if targets are hit.
