Location: Near Bedford, MK43 (Office-based role)



Employment Type: Full-Time



Salary: �35,000 - �40,000

Our client Excelsior Land Limited is a leading family-run construction firm dedicated to delivering high-quality projects in a timely and efficient manner. Specialising in low carbon, MMC residential schemes, every project undertaken focuses on reducing environmental impact throughout the build process and for the occupants when complete. With a commitment to excellence and client satisfaction, they are seeking a meticulous and organised Accountant to join their growing team and contribute to their continuing success.



The ideal candidate will be financially qualified with experience in cost accounting, CIS, and an understanding of construction project accounting. This varied and interesting role requires someone to join the entrepreneurial team as they continue to grow. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with both site and office teams is essential.





Key Responsibilities




  • Processing invoices and organising payments through NatWest Bankline

  • Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded

  • Monthly creation and processing of payroll, pension, and CIS

  • Managing VAT/HMRC and all regulatory payments

  • Managing Directors and staff expenses

  • Performing bank reconciliations

  • Handling month-end tasks

  • Providing financial insights and reports for ongoing projects in collaboration with the commercial team

  • Producing financial reports for senior management

  • Assisting and providing reports for the in-house Management Accountant

  • Completing annual ad hoc tasks such as compiling CITB reports

  • Liaising with external accountants and assisting in the preparation of end-of-year accounts

  • Assisting in the compilation of annual budgets for overheads and monitoring the budget against actuals

  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets





Qualifications/Experience




  • AAT, Financial degree, or similar qualification

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry

  • Proficient with Xero accounting software

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
