A leading provider of diagnostic manufacturing equipment is seeking a skilled Accountant to join their team in Chichester, UK. This role is essential to the company's mission of enabling and inspiring scientists to commercialise their ideas, positively affecting billions of lives worldwide.
About the Role:
As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial transactions and compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and government regulations. You will be responsible for verifying and posting receipts, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining effective internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage general accounting processes including cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, expense reports, and other general ledger activities.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and maintain controls to secure the company against impropriety.
  • Oversee the monthly close and financial reporting process, including special quarterly, year-end, and tax requirements.
  • Perform reconciliations on all general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for month-end closing activities.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and resulting analysis, and review and perform account accruals.
  • Maintain working knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Handle record retention for Finance, Human Resources, and other areas as required.
  • Participate in annual planning and monthly financial forecasting.
  • Comply with all reporting requirements and pursue process improvements within the department.
  • Lead and/or participate in audits and quality initiatives as assigned.
  • Generate sales and gross margin, cost reports, and presentations, including trend analysis with suggestions for improvement.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Up to three (3) years of accounting experience, with preferred two (2) years in an IFRS environment.
  • Excellent math, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency with software/systems such as Xero, Sage, Microsoft Office suite, and advanced Excel skills. Experience with JDE and OneStream is a plus.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with business systems.
