Job Summary:
IMC are seeking an experienced and dynamic Acute Occupational Therapist to join our private clinic in Surrey. This role requires advanced clinical expertise to assess, treat, and manage patients with complex needs in an acute care setting. The successful candidate will develop personalized treatment plans, provide guidance to junior staff, and contribute to ongoing service improvements. A patient-centered approach and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities
Conduct thorough assessments of patients in acute settings, addressing physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at optimizing patient independence and function in daily activities.
Utilize evidence-based interventions, including ADL training, cognitive rehabilitation, mobility enhancement, and environmental adaptation.
Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress, adapting treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
Maintain comprehensive patient records in compliance with clinic standards and professional guidelines.
Discharge Planning and Coordination
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe and efficient discharge planning.
Assess the need for assistive devices, home modifications, and other resources to support patients post-discharge.
Provide training and education for patients and their families on post-discharge activities and self-management strategies.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior OTs, therapy assistants, and students, supporting their development and clinical skills.
Conduct case discussions, team meetings, and training sessions to promote knowledge-sharing and best practices within the OT team.
Act as a clinical role model, setting high standards for professional and ethical conduct.
Service Development and Quality Improvement
Contribute to the development and enhancement of acute OT services within the clinic, implementing evidence-based protocols and practices.
Participate in clinical audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of care and continuous improvement.
Identify opportunities for service expansion or innovation that enhance patient outcomes and clinic reputation.
Communication and Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Build strong professional relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members, ensuring a collaborative approach to patient care.
Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals to share insights, coordinate care, and advocate for patients' needs.
Participate actively in MDT meetings, case conferences, and clinical handovers to support holistic and comprehensive patient care.
Essential Criteria:
Qualifications: Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy, with full HCPC registration in the UK.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience (for Band 6) or 5+ years (for Band 7) in an acute care or rehabilitation setting, with exposure to complex case management.
Clinical Skills: Advanced clinical skills in acute assessment, ADL training, cognitive and physical rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
Leadership: Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and support junior staff or students, promoting a culture of excellence.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
Desirable Criteria:
Specialization: Additional training or certification in areas such as neurological rehabilitation, cognitive therapy, or hand therapy.
Private Sector Experience: Previous experience in a private healthcare setting, with a focus on delivering high-quality, client-focused care.
Quality Improvement: Involvement in clinical audits, service improvement projects, or research.
