We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected international manufacturer and distributor, for a skilled Export Administrator to join their busy shipping team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic 6-month opportunity to gain hands on experience with a global business operating in over 85 countries, with subsidiaries in the USA and Germany.
Based at the company's Distribution Centre in Newhaven, you will play a key role in supporting the shipping and export function. The position involves managing all aspects of export administration, ensuring customer orders are despatched efficiently, compliantly, and on time. You'll be responsible for booking freight forwarders, producing accurate export documentation, monitoring collections, and ensuring proper record-keeping of invoices and shipping paperwork.
There is free parking available on site or on the road. The working hours are 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday, with an hour unpaid break.
The role will also involve supporting the Central Distribution Warehouse and liaising with both internal departments and external partners to resolve shipping queries and ensure a smooth workflow. An understanding of international shipping regulations and the ability to stay up to date with legislative changes is essential, as is confidence in providing certified export documentation where required.
This role would suit someone with prior experience in international shipping and export processes, ideally gained within a distribution or logistics environment. A working knowledge of Commodity/Tariff Codes, and familiarity with US importation and interstate shipping requirements would be beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word is expected, along with strong communication and organisational skills.
Our client is looking for someone who can hit the ground running-someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. While this is a temporary position, it offers a great chance to work within a high-performing and internationally-focused organisation.
