AI Researcher Remote (Must be UK based) £120,000 - £170,000 + StockPhD focused related field (ML / AI / LLM)Better Placed Technology has partnered with a Microsoft backed stealth business founded in Silicon valley as they begin building their UK based research and development team.The founders are composed of industry leaders and innovators taken from some of the best-known tech businesses on the globe. They’re working on cutting edge technologies that are revolutionising the AI landscape. This role is fully remote, but it would be good if you are open to travelling to Silicon Valley 1-2 times per year for collaboration.The US research team has been built with alumni from Stanford, Berkley and Google research and they're looking for a similar calibre in the UK. Ideally you'll have interned for a tier 1 company although fresh PhD's will also be considered.As a researcher you'll have access to a dedicated GPU cluster of 2000+ GPU's and working on future defining projects in AI.Key Responsibilities:• Optimise and refine models using techniques like transformer distillation and fine-tuning on small datasets. • Work with the research team to drive our technical vision and long-term research strategy • Engage in the full model development cycle from conceptualization to deployment and training • Remain up-to-date on ongoing foundational model research development activities in the industry.Qualifications:• Proven experience in AI/ML model development, particularly with transformers, LSTM/GRU, or fine-tuning approaches. Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation in AI.• 5+ years of hands on experience in large language model, NLP, and modeling, in the setting of both research and engineering development• PhD level in deep learning, artificial intelligence, and/or related technical field• Experience and knowledge of ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.• Experience and knowledge of training language modelsBenefitsFully remote role with 1-2 trips to the USA annually.Competitive benefits including stock optionsHow to Apply:Please apply with an up to date CV and answer the screening questions accurately.
