ASD Teaching Assistant

Location: Ashington

Salary: £80 to £120 per day

Start Date: Immediately

Contract: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education requires a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Ashington. This position involves supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, facilitating their academic and social development within a nurturing environment.

Job Summary:


  • Provide tailored support to children with ASD in a classroom setting.
  • Implement learning and care plans developed by the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and manage sensory sensitivities.

Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the development and delivery of effective strategies to support students with ASD.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to foster an inclusive educational environment.
  • Monitor and support the well-being of students throughout the school day.

Qualifications:


  • Experience working with children with ASD or related special educational needs.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Education, or Support Services (or equivalent).
  • Strong empathy, patience, and effective communication skills.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
