Assembly Technician - Vehicles
Location: Merthyr Tydfil
Duration (Contract/Fixed Term): 24 months
Hours Per Week: 37.5 (Mon-Thurs)
Specific Job Description
* Competent technician capable of electrical and mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems working from drawings and engineering instruction.
* Competent and safe use of all hand and air tools. Use of Jigs, fixtures and measuring tools on precision assemblies.
* Problem solver with a positive attitude.
* Working with support from engineering group a methodical and precise approach to ensure successful completion of production tasks on high value hardware.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
* Proven experience as a Vehicle Assembly Technician, armoured vehicle/Aircraft Assembly Technician or similar role.
* Ability to complete set ups and perform quality and performance testing.
* Ability to work from written instructions with limited supervision.
* Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy.
* Ability to liaise with the test support, engineering and Quality functions.
* Attention to detail and ability to self-inspect work to ensure quality defects are mitigated.
* Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.
* Understanding of "clean as you go"/6S/FOD/Tool control programs mandatory.
* Experienced with quality inspection points and process documentation.
* A very high level of health and safety awareness.
* Must be able to take direction well and is a strong team player.
* Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection.
* Excellent listening and communication skills.
* Excellent organisational skills and problem-solving skills.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
* Previous experience working in manufacturing work environments with assembly and fitting experience.
The Assembly Technician - Vehicles role will involve working on UK classified programmes, the candidate must therefore be willing and able to obtain a security clearanc
