South Tyneside Council's Children's Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Children's Social Worker to join our dynamic Assessment Team. Your Role:
As an Assessment Team member, you will play a vital role in safeguarding children and families, ensuring their needs are met and their wellbeing is prioritized.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to Referrals: Thoroughly assessing referrals and concerns about children at risk of harm, ensuring prompt and effective action is taken.
- Conducting Assessments: Carrying out comprehensive assessments to understand the child's and family's circumstances, needs, and risks, including physical, emotional, and developmental factors.
- Developing Care Plans: Creating individualized care plans outlining strategies to safeguard the child, address their needs, and support their wellbeing.
- Working with Families: Engaging with families to provide support, guidance, and interventions aimed at promoting positive change and reducing risk to the child.
- Multi-agency Collaboration: Working effectively with other professionals and agencies involved in the child's care, including police, health services, education providers, and youth justice services.
- Maintaining Case Records: Keeping detailed and accurate records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes, ensuring clear and concise documentation of the child's journey.
Key Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
- Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
- Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
- Experience in Child Protection: Demonstrated experience working with children at risk of harm, and a strong understanding of child safeguarding principles and practices.
- Excellent Assessment and Case Management Skills: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop effective care plans, and manage complex cases effectively.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, other professionals, and stakeholders.
- Commitment to Safeguarding Children: Passion for protecting children and ensuring their rights and well-being are paramount.
