Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper
I am currently recruiting on behalf of my prestigious client, based in Stockport, SK1, for an experienced Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to join on a full-time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will need proven Assistant Accounting experience with working knowledge of Xero and/or Sage and be able to work in a fast-paced, SME business.

About the role:
- Contribute and assist the Finance Manager in delivering monthly management accounts, periodic forecasting and budgeting
- Monitoring debtor and creditor ledgers to ensure accuracy of input
- Journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Some Purchase ledger & Sales ledger invoice processing work and bank allocations
- Working closely with colleagues both inside and outside of finance
- Getting involved in ad-hoc finance projects
- Daily upload into Invoice finance company's online system and draw down available funds
- Own certain month end processes by: ensuring banks are reconciled, PLEO is reconciled, STRIPE is reconciled and efficient processing of invoices and credit notes to given deadline
- Monitor and organise Accounts inbox and investigate any queries and resolve them in a timely manner
- Manage Fixed Asset register and post monthly depreciation journal
Hours and Pay:
- Monday to Friday
- Hybrid/Remote - 3-days home working per week
- Salary up to £35,000 - dependent on experience
- Permanent
- 33 days of annual leave, including 8 bank holidays plus Birthday Day Off

About you:
- Proven Bookkeeping/Accounting experience within an accounting practice environment is essential
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
- Accounts payable knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and targets
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
