We are recruiting on behalf of our Client for an opportunity to join a leading supplier in the FMCG sector, operating across multiple sites, supplying to mainstream supermarkets. An exciting opportunity has come up for a diverse role within this dynamic business as an Assistant Accountant, based at their offices on the outskirts of York (YO42). This is a permanent, full-time, office-based role with a highly competitive salary of up to £35,000, offering study support, 31 days holiday (including bank holidays) and opportunities for career growth. This role also boasts Monday to Friday working hours.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant will include:
\n- Completion of monthly P&L and Balance Sheets.
\n- Managing accruals, prepayments, and ensuring accurate invoicing and reconciliation to customer records.
\n- Collaborating with the Administrator on cost invoices to maintain complete accounts.
\n- Submission of VAT returns and preparation of payroll information.
\n- Supporting the MD with weekly operational reporting to help drive business performance.
\n- Further ad hoc duties, as required.
\n
You may currently be in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Officer, Bookkeeper, Assistant Management Accountant or Assistant Accountant role and looking to take on more responsibility in a hands-on environment. Experience working with both financial and operational teams would be advantageous, as well as a background in FMCG or food manufacturing, but this is not essential.
Skills and requirements to be successful in this Assistant Accountant role include:
\n- Strong background in a finance-based role with experience in a similar level role and/or business.
\n- You may be qualified or studying your AAT/ACA/ACCA/CIMA - our Client can offer a study support package around this too (if the successful individual would like, but this is not essential)
\n- Financial reporting skills and attention to detail, with experience using Excel to a high standard.
\n- Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
\n- Have knowledge of using accountancy software such as Xero, Sage, Quickbooks, etc. with the capability to be able to learn new systems and processes quickly
\n- Familiarity with VAT, payroll, and other key finance functions.
\n
The role is commutable from York, Pocklington, Selby, Beverley, Elvington, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, Market Weighton, and surrounding areas, with YO42 as a generic location. This is ideal for candidates located in East Yorkshire, who can drive - with ample parking offered at the offices.
