Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant - About The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the financial function by managing transactional processes and providing assistance with management accounting tasks. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and contributing to the overall financial health of the company.

• Support the operations team with credit control, cash flow management, and debtor reporting.


• Assist with customer invoicing, follow-ups, and account reconciliations.


• Process card payments and direct debits.


• Reconcile bank statement entries across multiple bank accounts, including foreign currencies.


• Maintain the integrity of the cashflow report, ensuring receipts and payments are correctly recorded.


• Ensure full reconciliations are completed monthly for core Balance Sheet codes.


• Ensure all entities are fully reconciled on a weekly/monthly basis and AP/AR invoices are raised and posted on both sides.


• Assist in preparing monthly payroll for submission to the payroll bureau.


• Review and submit VAT returns on time.


• Calculate and submit monthly CIS returns.


• Assist in preparing documentation and records for internal and external audits.

The successful Assistant Accountant will have:

• Experience in accounting, specifically transactional accounting.


• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.


• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.


• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


• Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.


• Relevant qualifications in AAT, CIMA, or ACCA, or working towards them.
