Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Buyer to support procurement for our our clients. The right candfidate will play a key role in managing client contracts and assisting the buying team. A proactive attitude and an understanding of ethical procurement will be essential to maintain the high standards expected throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy:

  • Contribute to the company's global procurement vision, helping to establish best practices and working toward the goal of becoming a market leader.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with Senior Management to enhance operational performance.
  • \n
\n

Procurement Process:

\n
    \n
  • Source and supply goods/services in line with client Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • \n
  • Meet targets using gainshare/baseline models and negotiate discounts for additional profit.
  • \n
  • Negotiate with suppliers on costs and payment terms, ensuring quality, delivery, and technical standards are met.
  • \n
  • Ensure all procurement activities align with company Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards and policies.
  • \n
  • Resolve both internal and external queries efficiently.
  • \n
  • Provide customs documentation promptly.
  • \n
  • Explore client surplus stock for all Requests for Quotations (RFQs).
  • \n
  • Promote eco-friendly alternatives and present them to customers.
  • \n
  • Regularly collect and act on customer feedback to maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • \n
  • Keep internal systems updated and foster strong relationships with customers and suppliers.

Financial Control:

  • Assist the credit controller in resolving any client or supplier invoice queries swiftly.
  • \n
\n

Customer Focus:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of client businesses and their contract objectives.
  • \n
\n

Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE):

    \n
  • Stay familiar with the clients's policies on quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • \n
  • Encourage the use of sustainable products and contribute to the company's recycling and energy-saving initiatives.
  • \n
\n

Environmental Responsibility:

  • Be aware of the company's environmental management systems and emergency procedures.
  • \n
  • Support progress towards achieving the company's environmental objectives.
  • \n
  • Actively implement the company's environmental procurement policy and adopt eco-friendly practices in the office.

Qualifications/Training:

\n
    \n
  • Previous procurement experience is desirable but not essential.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Excel, Crystal Reports, Dynamics GP, and management databases, is required.
