Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: Up to £30,000 Per Annum
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Assistant Depot Manager on behalf of one of our clients.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To assist in the management of the depot.
  • Assist the Depot Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the operation.
  • Assist the Depot Manager with any conduct/performance issues, including carrying out investigations.
  • Deputise for the Depot Manager during holidays and other absences.
  • Gain knowledge of all routes and provide cover for delivery drivers as needed to ensure service continuity.
  • Assist with unloading/loading and breaking down goods into their designated routes.
  • Be fully aware of vehicle tracking and temperature monitoring tools to ensure fleet compliance.
  • Help and mentor new permanent or agency drivers.
  • Supervise all drivers, including agency drivers.
  • Alert the Depot Manager to any issues regarding the fleet, building, or equipment.
  • Prepare loads for the next day, including checking returns.
  • Stay up to date with new computer programs, company procedures, and legislation.
  • Create daily/weekly/monthly management reports and KPIs in the Depot Manager’s absence.
  • Ensure all daily paperwork is completed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Liaise with other departments, including customer services and managers, regarding delivery issues.
  • Communicate issues affecting depot performance to the Depot Manager.
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times, including wearing any provided PPE.
  • Promote Health & Safety awareness throughout the depot environment.
  • Conduct regular fleet checks for damage, wear & tear, mechanical faults, and cleanliness.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Previous management/supervisory experience in the transport/logistics industry
  • Able to work accurately under pressure.
  • Maintain compliance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and schedule deliveries.
  • Basic PC skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Possession of a current driving licence.
  • Possession of an FLT licence (where applicable).
