Assistant Farm Manager

Join our client's team and become a chicken expert! We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic person to help them take care of their chickens on their farm.

What you will be doing:

  • Helping the Farm Manager: You will work closely with the main farm manager to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Taking care of the chickens: Ensuring they have food, water, and a clean home.
  • Keeping records: Writing down important information about the chickens and the farm.
  • Ordering supplies: Ensuring they have everything they need, like food and other essentials.
  • Helping the environment: Doing your part to reduce waste and recycle.
  • Leading a team: If needed, you might help train and guide other farm assistants.
  • Checking on the chickens: Watching how they are growing and letting the Farm Manager know how they are doing.
  • Keeping the farm tidy: Ensuring everything looks nice and clean.
  • Helping out in emergencies: Sometimes, you might need to answer calls or alarms to help with any problems.
  • Learning new things: You will get to learn a lot about farming and how to take care of animals!

What we are looking for:

  • Someone who loves animals and cares about their well-being.
  • Someone who likes working outdoors and getting their hands dirty.
  • Someone who can work on their own and follow instructions.
  • Someone who is eager to learn and try new things.
  • Someone who likes working as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working on a Chicken farm.
  • Level 2 or 3 Poultry Passport Qualification.
  • Willingness to study for NVQ qualifications.
  • Reliability and Flexibility.
  • Self motivated and able to take initiative.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to make good decisions.
  • Able to use a computer.

Important things to remember:

  • You will need to be able to work in different weather conditions.
  • This role involves working 48 hours a week, on a 5 out of 7 day shift pattern, with a sixth day if needed.
  • This job might involve some early mornings or late nights.
