Milton Garden Products is a highly trusted landscaping and builders’ merchant with branches within the Stoke-on-Trent and Cheshire area. Over the years we have seen rapid growth, with this there is now a need to grow our Finance Department with the addition of an Assistant Financial Accountant, reporting to our Financial Controller.



Milton Garden Products is committed to the development of its employees, which is why we are looking for a part qualified accountant with a CIMA or ACA qualification or working towards a CIMA/ ACA Apprenticeship.



We will support you both in the studying for your qualification and the experience to support the theory. The hands-on experience and on the job training will help propel your career in Finance.



Your day-to-day tasks




  • Handling monthly accounting tasks, and maintaining fixed assets register, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Producing monthly management reports on a 5-day flash.

  • Responsible for preparing weekly payrolls, payroll journals, PAYE & Pension Payments.

  • Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger month end close out, debt recovery.

  • Daily Bank, eBay and PayPal Reconciliation.

  • Processing and the Monthly reconciliation of Company Credit Card expenses

  • Preparation of Year-end Tax Analysis and other Year-end schedules.

  • Preparation & Submission of Monthly VAT returns.

  • Responsible for Stock Control Audit and Stock Adjustments.

  • Assist with projects when required.



             Candidate Requirements:




  • With 2+ years of experience in an accounting role.

  • Studying or commencing CIMA or similar accounting prof qualification

  • Proficiency in accounting software including, Kerridge advantageous, Microsoft Excel (Pivots and IF Statements)

  • Have a strong understanding of day-to-day accounts principles

  • Be able to deliver a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with both financial and non-financial colleagues and customers alike.
