At this SEN school, the school cater to students aged 6-19 with complex learning difficulties, some associated with profound physical disabilities and/or medical needs. They provide a nurturing environment with both day and residential placements, offering stimulating activities that promote self-esteem and personal independence.The school are expanding and are about to begin refurbishing our facilities to accommodate more students. They are seeking an Assistant Head of School/Exams Lead to join our leadership team and contribute to our mission of empowering young people to lead fulfilling, independent lives.The Role:As the Assistant Head of School, you will:Take overall responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head of School.Lead on school examinations.Inspire creativity and collaboration among staff and students.Advocate passionately for students, striving to deliver impactful educational outcomes.Key Duties:Collaborate closely with staff and students to maintain strategic objectives.Assist the Head of School in monitoring and evaluating the Quality Improvement Plan.Lead staff by monitoring progress and contributing to ongoing training and professional development.Ensure the welfare, conduct, and progress of students, effectively communicating their needs and priorities to all staff.Foster positive relationships with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider community to enhance pupil achievement, personal development, and inclusion opportunities.Monitor and evaluate the school curriculum and student attainment in partnership with key staff members.Responsibilities:Essential Qualifications:Qualified Teacher Status.Leadership experience.Desirable Qualifications:Accredited training in specific areas of special education, such as PMLD/SLD/ASD needs.NPQSL.Experience:At least 5 years of successful, creative, and structured teaching within the special needs environment.Experience in a specialist teaching environment.Proven track record of turning policy into effective practice.Experience in developing community links.Leadership of a significant area or phase, including responsibility for raising standards across the school.Experience working with school governors, trustees, or executives.Professional Knowledge:Understanding of the essential qualities necessary for effective teaching and learning.Experience using effective behaviour and teaching strategies, preferably in a special school setting.Knowledge of TEACCH or similar ASD intervention and support strategies.Up-to-date knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance, including OFSTED requirements and developments in special education.Join this brilliant SEN School and make a significant impact on the lives of the students.
