Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant

Salary: 35k-40k DOE

Location: Leicester

Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to support the Financial Reporting Manager in producing accurate and timely management information to monitor the organization's financial health and facilitate strategic decision-making. This role focuses primarily on the Central Services division, with a strong emphasis on cash and banking operations. You will work closely with non-financial stakeholders, providing clear financial insights while ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting for the Central Services division, including processing month-end journals and maintaining accurate records.
  • Perform and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations for designated areas.
  • Support the management of all aspects of cash and banking, including bank reconciliations and posting manual bank transactions.
  • Process payments via online banking and direct debit.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting.
  • Support external audits by coordinating with auditors and providing the required documentation.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as directed by senior finance management, including regulatory submissions.
  • Offer cover and support for colleagues across the Finance department when required.
  • Assist with the transition to a new finance system, including troubleshooting issues and suggesting process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar finance role, ideally with exposure to management accounting and reporting.
  • ACCA or CIMA part qualified.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with cash and banking operations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., Microsoft Excel, accounting software).
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
