Job DescriptionJob purpose :Alimak Group UK – Façade Access Division is a leading provider of Facade Access Equipment in the industry. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, we deliver high-quality projects that meet and exceed client expectations.Position Overview: We are currently recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Facade Access Division, the role will support the project delivery team, to ensure projects are completed both safely and on time. You will be required to provide operational support where required, reduce the cost and risk of a façade access project, augment commercial opportunity and ensure the project is delivered to budget, whilst still achieving the required legal and quality standards.This is a full-time position based in our offices in Chelmsford, with regular travel required to our project sites across the UK, with the majority of our current clients being in London. It is a standalone Assistant QS role within our business, reporting directly to the Head of Commercial UK (Façade Access).If you are a team player who enjoys a fast paced work environment, where no day is the same, we would love to hear from you!Key tasks:Commercial Management – The AQS plays a key role commercially for the Project, from sales handover until final account and final retention is collected. The AQS will have a comprehensive understanding of the agreed project specific contract. The AQS is responsible for all project measurement and surveying requirements. The AQS is responsible for measuring, applying, tracking, and agreeing variations. The AQS supports the management of contract disputes where applicable.Budget Management – The AQS contributes to the financial planning and monitoring of the project. The AQS is expected to forecast the project/s monthly financial performance and review regularly with their line manager. This includes but is not limited to, monthly valuations, contractual variations, and cash flow. (For example – conducting a monthly estimate to complete (ETCs) is expected by project).Procurement – Be responsible for procuring Materials and Services required for the Project in line, with Budget / Job Evaluation Tool (JET). This may be direct from Alimak Group or from third parties depending upon the project requirements.Setting KPIs - An integral aspect of the ongoing monitoring of a project is measuring performance. This ensures the AQS can identify whether the project is on commercial target and within budget.Project specific Safety, Health, Quality and Environment Management - It is the responsibility of the AQS to work closely and support the PM & HSEQ Manager and to ensure work is conducted safely, in budget and on time.Communication – The A QS is responsible for ensuring that all stakeholders are fully aware of the project’s commercial progress.Profile & Attributes:Effective communication skills with good organisational and planning skillsGood written and literacy skillsCapable of managing themselves before others and works well as part of a teamKnowledge of health &safety legislationExperience of working in the vertical access or construction industry would be beneficialFlexible attitude to working hours to meet and exceed customer expectations and targetsCompetencies & Qualifications:Full UK Driving Licence– EssentialHNC or undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Built Environment – EssentialEffective negotiation, reasoning and influencing skills – DesirableHighly competent in use of Microsoft 365 programmes (Word,Excel, Outlook, etc.) -EssentialExperience of JCT, NEC and CM contracts – DesirableCSCS Card – Desirable
