Assistant Quantity Surveyor

My Client is an established Commercial Joinery contractor based in Lancashire.
Our projects cover a varied scope of sites such as Universities, Schools, Government buildings, sport complexes, office buildings and student accommodation.
This role is ideal for individuals who are currently enrolled, looking to start, or have recently completed a Quantity Surveying degree. The assistant will support daily tasks, contributing to our team's success in managing project costs and procurement processes. Further more the focus of the role is helping to provide pre and post-contract quantity surveying services with the ability to prepare cost plans, estimates, bills of quantities and tender evaluations engaging with all parts of the business to ensure a professionalism and detail at all times.
This role is also working as part of an enthusiastic and dynamic team where you will be responsible for the following:
Quantity Surveying
Attending pre-tender site inspections and post tender meetings
Ordering materials in line with schedules
Take off from drawings
Producing bill of quants from drawings
Tracking project progress for monthly valuations
Site measures and back up evidence of additional variations
Submitting monthly valuations and chasing up payment
Retention monitoring and chasing up payment
Managing variation accounts
Monitoring progress and programme to ensure prelim costs are covered.
Candidate Profile / Requirements
- GCSE Maths & English (required).
- Construction-based BTEC or NVQ (preferred).
- HND/HNC in a relevant construction discipline (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT tools (required).
- Valid driving license (preferred).
working towards or recently achieved Bachelors BSc in Quantity Surveying.
1-2 Year QS experience, with particular focus on carpentry and joinery (desirable)
Experience in take-offs and producing BOQs for all aspects of joiner works
Ability to quantify labour, plant, and material requirements.
. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
Happy to travel North west wide to meet clients and sites.
