As an Associate / Associate Designate Structural Engineer, you will operate at the forefront of structural design and project delivery, overseeing landmark projects across a variety of sectors. You will be empowered to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage key client relationships, and ensure the technical excellence of each project. With potential for significant career advancement, including the opportunity to progress to Partner, this role is ideal for a candidate with both technical expertise and leadership ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Oversee the structural engineering design and execution of complex projects, ensuring they are delivered to a high standard, on time, and within budget.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide senior technical guidance across all stages of design, including the production of detailed calculations, specifications, and drawings for reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, timber, and glass structures.
  • Client Liaison: Engage with clients at a strategic level, managing their expectations, presenting designs, and ensuring the smooth running of projects.
  • Design & Detailing: Lead the design of structural systems, including innovative solutions for complex structural challenges in areas such as glass structures and temporary works.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that designs comply with Eurocodes, British Standards, and other regulatory requirements. Lead internal reviews of structural designs to maintain the highest technical standards.
  • Structural Analysis: Conduct advanced structural analysis, utilizing finite element modelling and other industry-standard tools to solve complex design problems.

Key Skills & Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MIStructE) or nearing completion of your Chartership with a demonstrated pathway to achieve this in the near future.
  • Minimum 6-7 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering, ideally in a consulting environment that handles diverse and high-profile building structures.
  • Extensive experience in the detailed design of reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, masonry, and timber structures, with demonstrable expertise in connection design and detailing.
  • Specialist knowledge in glass structure design and temporary works is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis, structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, Tekla), and CAD systems such as AutoCAD, REVIT, or Tekla Structures.
  • Experience in steelwork connection design and an understanding of how to optimize connections for fabrication and erection.
