Associate Corporate Counsel, Japan Legal

Associate Corporate Counsel (Real Estate, Corporate Matters and Others), Japan Legal Amazon Japan's Legal Department is looking for a talented junior lawyer with approximately 2-5 years PQE to fill the position of Associate Corporate Counsel. The position covers a broad range of areas, including real estate, corporate matters, facilities, financial operations and payments. The successful candidate will structure, draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of matters from standard commercial contracts, to complex, high value transactions and cutting-edge business initiatives; provide day-to-day corporate and business law counseling; administer and resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships; and support regulatory and compliance matters. The position will be based in Amazon Japan s headquarters in Meguro, Tokyo and we have a flexible work policy (three times a week in-office & work twice from home). This person will report to an experienced, tenured Senior Manager, Senior Corporate Counsel, who reports to the Japan Legal VP. About the team The successful candidate will work in the Japan legal department, which consists of more than 80 lawyers and legal professionals. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Approximately 2-5 years' PQE legal experience at a top international or Japanese law firm and/or in-house legal department. - Fully bilingual in Japanese and English. - Attorney with strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills, and sound legal and business judgment. - Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and coordinate complex issues and projects with diverse levels of management, clients and peers. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience working in-house or as outside counsel for an e-commerce company is preferred but not essential.
