A unique opportunity has arisen with an internationally renowned biopharmaceutical client of mine, dedicated to transforming the lives of patients with rare and genetic diseases.The visionary organisation, with a historic record of winning awards for outstanding culture and pipeline innovation, and who has recently witnessed tremendous phase 3 success, is seeking a candidate who with their proven track record, intellectual curiosity and statistical rigor, can develop and apply data science and machine learning techniques and eventually build a team with a deep-rooted desire to innovate.Key responsibilities as the Associate Director of Data Science and Machine Learning include:In partnership with the wider Bioinformatics and Platform Development teams, tackle the company’s scientific and therapeutic goals by developing and deploying statistical and computational methods, engaging AI/ML frameworks where appropriate.Be a key visionary and stake holder in their data science and ML strategy, setting and delivering an impactful analytical roadmap.Work with ‘omics datasets to identify novel targets, characterise cell models, and assess therapeutic efficacy of small molecule and nucleotide based therapeutics.Collaborate with the Human Genetics and Computational Chemistry teams to guide and inform analyses. In addition to supporting the Wet Lab on experimental design for in silico experiments.Optimise data storage strategy for data mining applications and ML readiness.Present key findings to internal and external stakeholders.To be eligible to apply, you must have the following experience:PhD with 5+ years of industry experience applying Data Science and ML techniques in drug discovery, priority would be genomics data and target discovery.A high level of expertise in data mining and ML approaches and their application in this field.Mentoring or line management experience.A strong understanding of Statistics, Frequentist or Bayesian, including data simulation, bespoke tests and de novo hypothesis generation.Fluency in writing Python code.Experience working as a part of a multidisciplinary team, running multiple projects at once (AGILE would be of use) and using git version control in large collaborative projects.An additional desirable skillset would be experience working with very large datasets and using parallel processing such as CUDA.Above all, we are seeking a candidate with a keen interest and passion for the evolving landscape of the data science field, and a want to work and grow alongside likeminded people in a Biotech with an estemeed culture of care.If you are interested in applying, please send an updated CV to Iszy Shirley at #####.
