We are seeking an Associate Director Planner to join a dynamic team working on large-scale infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will manage the planning and schedule requirements for the project and provide strategic guidance to ensure time, cost, and quality targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish contractor schedule requirements through early engagement with the supply chain to meet the programme's time, cost, and quality targets, while supporting monthly business reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Planning to improve and sustain operating policies aimed at mitigating risks, taking a leading role in monitoring adherence to schedule policies.
  • Provide specialist advice and technical expertise to address delays, challenges, and other issues encountered throughout the project.
  • Drive expedient project delivery by leading periodic schedule correlation.
  • Coordinate and communicate the schedule reporting cycle to ensure alignment with executive reporting lifecycles.
  • Take ownership of business reporting, ensuring the quality and robustness of the data and providing regular project progress updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Sustain governance processes and ensure policies align with strategic business objectives.
  • Lead a team by setting clear objectives, reviewing performance, conducting appraisals, and providing regular feedback to ensure continuous development and achievement.
  • Conduct self-assessments of procedural compliance, sharing lessons learned and best practices within the Planning community.
  • Support the Head of Planning in preparing for and attending meetings, delivering market and strategy insights to senior commercial teams.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Planning or Project Controls role within large, complex infrastructure or construction projects, ideally supported by a formal professional Project Management qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of large infrastructure or construction projects (preferably under NEC Forms of Contract) and an understanding of the consultation process and public sector considerations.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders effectively and handle information flow in a matrix environment, providing specialist advice as needed.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating a team within a large-scale project environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to solve complex problems and mitigate risks.
  • Familiarity with public sector policies, processes, and procedures, and their associated political implications.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful infrastructure projects and work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. If you have the expertise and leadership experience to succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply.
