ASSOCIATE VENTURE CAPITAL

Taranis Carbon Ventures Associate Taranis Carbon Ventures is part of Taranis Investment, the investment arm of the Perenco Group. It is a 300m evergreen Venture Capital fund investing in Carbon Circularity, with a focus on Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) and plastics recycling. It is targeting innovative companies with proven technologies from industrial scale-up to growth stages (Series A/B focus). Taranis has an active investor positioning: it supports its portfolio companies in their development by leveraging the broader resources of the Perenco Group, including industrial assets, engineering capabilities and ecosystem connections. Roles and responsibilities: Our job ladder involves 5 levels: Analyst, Associate, Investment Manager, Principal and Partner. An Associate will take part in the whole investment cycle of Taranis Carbon Ventures: Deal sourcing and Assessment: Proactively Identify Opportunities: Conduct extensive research to identify potential investment opportunities in the Carbon Circular Economy sector. Actively participate in startup competitions, forums, and events organized by incubators to discover emerging trends and promising ventures. Relationship with start-ups: Initiate and coordinate introductory calls, meetings, and site visits in conjunction with an Investment Manager. Deal Analysis: Analyse both opportunities received directly by Taranis and those sourced through partnerships with other venture capital funds. Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments, assessing market trends, technology viability, and financial performance. Valuation: conduct financial analysis to produce DCF and multiples-based valuation in support of investment and exit decisions. Portfolio Management: Active Monitoring: continuously monitor and manage the progress of a selection of portfolio companies, tracking performance against established metrics. Provide support and guidance to enhance value creation. Support to start-ups: coordinate the contributions of the technical resources of the Perenco Group and provide direct ad'hoc support (e.g., market research, growth plan drafting) An Associate will typically work under the guidance of an Investment Manager, with a focus on a specific investment vertical. Profile & competencies: Relevant Professional Background : 2 to 4 years of professional experience, and at least 2 years in venture capital. PROFILES NOT MEETING THIS CRITERION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Passion for Tech-Based Sustainability Solutions : A deep interest and passion for identifying and implementing technology-driven solutions to address carbon circularity challenges. Educational Background : Master's degree with a science focus. Finance, business or economics will also be considered. Financial Analysis and Modelling Skills : demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis and modelling to evaluate potential investments and business opportunities. Communication Skills : strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts and analyses. Analytical Thinking : highly self-motivated and a critical thinker who approaches problems from first principles. Enjoys delving deep into complex topics. Languages: fluent in English.
