Control & Automation Engineer – Worcester
My client in Worcester is expanding and seeks a Control & Automation Engineer to design and implement advanced automation, mechatronic, and data acquisition systems. This role offers diverse projects in automotive and industrial settings, ideal for engineers with a strong technical foundation and experience in Windows-based programming (C# or VB).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify automation software using C# (VB6/VBA for legacy systems).
- Implement tailored automation and control solutions using proprietary software and DACS.
- Integrate third-party devices via C# and communication protocols (Ethernet, Serial, EtherCAT, CAN, Profibus, etc.).
- Provide remote and on-site support, including troubleshooting and system updates.
- Develop automation routines, assess engineering systems, and review post-test diagnostics.
- Draft test procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and sales teams on system specifications and customer sign-offs.
- Use SourceTree, BitBucket, and Jira for source code management.
- Opportunity to lead projects and work with PLCs (safety PLCs beneficial but not required).
- UK-wide and occasional international travel (approx. 20%).
Ideal Candidate
- Strong C# and Visual Studio skills with a solid background in automation and control.
- Degree in electrical, mechanical, robotics, mechatronics, or automation engineering.
- 3+ years’ automation experience within an electrical context.
- Familiarity with automation hardware (sensors, actuators, inverters).
- Willingness to travel and work away when required.
- Full UK driving licence and permanent right to work in the UK.
