Job DescriptionPurpose of jobOur aim is to become a market leader in the provision of Electric Vehicle charging solutions to Local Authorities and Businesses as part of our strategy to lead the transition to zero carbon.The goal is to undertake an ambitious electric vehicle charging installation program, deploying high volume and quality EV installations across the nation. Our aim is to make the world a better place, one charge point at a time.The Bid Manager will work within Zest’s sales team to ensure successful bid responses to proposals and tenders. They will support the end to end bid process, write and submit compelling bids, and work with multiple stakeholders across the business.Key AccountabilitiesThe role is responsible for the following:Manage and co-ordinate all bid activity, ensuring bids are submitted on time and in line with the bid cycleManage and contribute to the bid qualification (bid/no bid decision) process for new opportunities to ensure bids are in line with business strategyAssemble and manage virtual bid teams comprising a variety of stakeholders from across the business to prepare a winning bid, including identification of value propositionLead, manage and motivate multi-functional stakeholders in line with bid timeframesDevelop and manage the bid management plan whilst maintaining responsibility for quality and consistencyProduce high scoring proposal content that clearly articulates the benefits of our solution to meet specific client needs, which answer specific tender questions and are in line with guidance provided in the tender scoring matrix, or in line with market best practice where not providedEnsuring all bid management tools are used to support the production of comprehensive, timely bidsProviding regular updates on bids currently in progress to the Head of Bid and CDO as requiredSupporting the Bid Writers with their submissions, including help with storyboarding and providing feedback on written quality responses as requiredSupporting the Head of Bid with training and development of the Bid team, in line with wider strategic goalsWriting and checking drafts for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and formatting, and confirming that the response answers the question asked.Attending business review meetings, including quarterly market review meetingsEngaging with other sales team members and the wider business to ensure thorough and compelling bids are written and submittedWorking with the Head of Bid to manage resources and timelines to ensure early identification of potential conflicts with bid timetablesSupporting the Head of Bid with reporting on key metrics and targetsCommunicating any issues and partnering with other team members to address any issues ahead of timeEnsure all bids are progressed in line with appropriate governance processesPlus, any other duties as required by the leadership teamOutcome, Results and Key performance indicatorsAchieve growth targets in line with current KPIsKey RelationshipsInternal – Chief Development Officer, Head of Bid, Senior Bid Manager, Bid Writers, Public Sector BDMs, Project Coordinator, Marketing Manager, Finance Director, CTO, CEO, Technical Director and Operations DirectorExternal – Procurement officers, Directors of Service, Senior Managers, Sustainability/ Environmental Leads, Public and Private Sector bodiesKnowledge and SkillsProven experience of bid and proposal managementAbility to develop compelling and robust proposalsProven experience of managing multiple projects, timelines and varied resources efficientlyAbility to lead and manage a teamExcellent communicatorStrong project management skillsStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to communicate at various levels within internal and external organisationsStrong commercial knowledgeStrong business acumen and ability to take calculated risksExcellent attention to detailBehavioursSelf-drivenInclusiveTeam focusedOpenRespectful of othersZest is an equal opportunity employer, committed to the values and ultimately societal benefits of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
