About the position of Buy to Let Underwriting Team Leader

Responsibilities for the role of Buy to Let Underwriting Team Leader

• Manage, motivate, mentor and develop the underwriting team
• Ensure SLAs are maintained and exceeded
• Develop and promote clear standards of performance within underwriting which support the company training and competency policy.
• Conduct training and coaching, and ensure adequate records of staff training and competence are maintained
• Underwriting and assessing loan documentation, including valuation reports and requesting additional information from brokers where required
• Compete checks on applicants and properties, assessing suitability for the loan
• Proactively manage a pipeline of mortgage applications which will include chasing outstanding information from third parties and providing updates to introducers promptly

Experience and skills required for the role of Buy to Let Underwriting Team Leader

• Experience gained as a mandated Buy to Let Mortgage Underwriter, with a Lender
• Can consider candidates who have either gained experience in leading a team or someone who is looking to take the next steps into a leadership role.
• Superb people and communication skills
• Takes ownership and responsibility and is results-orientated
• CeMap is desirable but not essential
• Organised and comfortable working to deadlines and under pressure
• Good understanding of FCA requirements
