Role: Building Regulations Principal Designer/ Building Control professional
Location: London (hybrid working environment)

WRG is excited to partner with an independent CDM/ Principal Designer consultancy who operate across the UK. The business is looking to hire an experienced and competent Building Control professional to sit within their Building Safety Services team and work with a wide variety of clients across the built environment (residential, commercial, retail, university, office, leisure, hotel, sport and education sectors) predominantly in London/ South East.
The role has been created off the back of the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Act, and our client wanting to integrate their Principal Designer and Building Safety service.
Like many businesses in the industry, they are looking to appoint a competent and experienced building control expert, as they believe this is the best way to navigate the changes affecting the sector and deliver the Building Safety Principal Designer service to their clients.
The role would suit a Building Control professional with several years of experience in the sector offering their services to a range of clients and projects. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client facing nature of the role, and our client can only consider candidates who have either completed or are in the process of completing their registration with the BSR (Building Safety Regulator) class 2 or 3.
Duties:
Carryout building inspections, site visits, surveys and prepare reports.
Offer advice around the Building Safety Act.
Liaise with Principal Designer, Principal Contractor, Architects, Designers, Engineers and other parties to ensure compliance on projects.
Undertake plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the building process.
Attend client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building regulations and other legislation.
Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
Requirements:
Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management or similar discipline.
Class 2 or Class 3 registration.
Membership to RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIOB.
Experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Client facing.
Excellent knowledge of Building Safety Act, building regulations, codes and legislation.
